Did you know that the treatment for marijuana dependency is at an all time high? More and more people are seeking out help in this area to change their situation when it comes to smoking pot. Why is pot addictive?

Most addicts can remember when they would smoke pot to relax, have fun, and socialize. Many do not know when it all changed. Now smoking cannabis can seem to be a necessity for them because of a certain stressful situation or person. A lot of addicts will justify smoking marijuana because "works over, it's time to relax" or they need an "attitude adjustment."

Why does marijuana become something that is a need instead of just a want? Marijuana addiction is like any other type of addiction whereas a physical dependence occurs with repeated use. This physical dependence is more evident when the user tries to quit and becomes overwhelmed by irritability, anxiety or begins experiencing sleeping problems.

The body can become accustomed to the presence of THC (the main active chemical in marijuana) and then the tolerance level of the individual increases. An addict will actually experience a physical craving for the drug. The brain itself develops a dependency, as well, as its natural chemicals are disrupted. When the brain becomes used to a substance stimulating it like pot does, then depression, anxiety and irrationality can occur when the user tries to quit.

MEXICO CITY (AP) Mexico enacted a controversial law on Thursday decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and other drugs while encouraging government-financed treatment for drug dependency free of charge.

The law sets out maximum personal use amounts for drugs, also including LSD and methamphetamine. People detained with those quantities will no longer face criminal prosecution; the law goes into effect on Friday.

Anyone caught with drug amounts under the personal-use limit will be encouraged to seek treatment, and for those caught a third time treatment is mandatory although no penalties for noncompliance are specified.

Mexican authorities said the change only recognized the longstanding practice here of not prosecuting people caught with small amounts of drugs.

The maximum amount of marijuana considered to be for personal use under the new law is 5 grams the equivalent of about four marijuana cigarettes. Other limits are half a gram of cocaine, 50 milligrams of heroin, 40 milligrams for methamphetamine and 0.015 milligrams of LSD.

hopefully we can at LEAST see marijuana legalized in the US soon
Answer :
Negative. California state law remains opposed to legal amounts of marijuana. I read back in May that efforts derived by bonehead citizens were halted due to an imminent threat of the dumbest class of Americans simply getting dumber.

Good luck on this conquest though. I have no problem remaining one level higher on society s human hierarchy. Live long and thrive!
Question :

Beatrice, Eugenie, Zara, et al.: What can we learn from these women?

Beatrice is a 19 year-old mother of four. One night, she was walking home from a substance abuse clinic where she currently receives treatment for dependency issues. She is a good mother and is trying hard to better her life both for her children, and - most importantly - for herself, when suddenly, a man came up from behind her and brutally raped her. He left her lying in the gutter unconscious. When she awoke, she was in the hospital, and was told that she was both pregnant and had been exposed to the HIV virus. Today Beatrice lives in a hospice run by charity. She is unaware that her daughter was taken away by the state and is heavily medicated.

Eugenie is a successful, talented tax preparer who enjoys her weekends socializing with friends. One night, Fred, a colleague of hers, took her to a local establishment which was popular amongst young people and which sold alcoholic beverages. Fred bought Eugenie several alcoholic beverages which Eugenie consumed out of obligation, as she felt guilty at having so much money spent on her. Fred then took Eugenie home, where he took advantage of her and raped her several times. Eugenie woke up the next day unaware of what happened. Nine months later, she gave birth to a baby girl, and Fred was no where to be found. Eugenie lost her job and had to work several low-paying jobs just to survive.

Zara was a beautiful and vivacious woman who was saving herself for marriage for sex. She met Johnny, a shy, quiet guy at her church where they were both members. Johnny was very sweet and charming, and would write Zara poems and take her for picnics by the sea. But one night, Johnny was acting very differently. He took Zara to a secluded area in the middle of the woods, where he raped her. After he was finished, several more men emerged from behind the trees and raped Zara as well. Zara recognized the men from her church - they were friend s of Johnny s, and had convinced him to bring Zara into the woods to watch him rape Zara to "prove he was a man." Afterward, Zara became pregnant, and Johnny refused to take any responsibility. Zara, distraught, chose to end her life and jumped off a freeway overpass, where several cars ran over her until a female driver noticed her and called 911. But it was too late.

Louise and Steve have been best friends since they were in second grade. Steve has always been Louise s confidante, and she felt very comfortable telling him all of her secrets and sharing intimate details of her life with him. Steve was gay, and Louise was supportive of his choice of lifestyle. She felt she could let down her guard around Steve because unlike other men he would have no intentions of sleeping with her. But one night Steve came to Louise s house, drunk and smelling like marijuana. As soon as Louise opened the door, Steve beat Louise and raped her until she became unconscious. When she came to, Steve had disappeared and Louise could not believe what had happened. Nine months later she gave birth to a son. For years she tried to locate Steve but to no avail. One day, she got a call from someone who identified themselves as "Sylvia." It turns out Steve had been living life as a woman for thirteen years and felt very guilty about what he had done to Louise. He said he "wanted to see what it felt like" to have sex with a woman, but the act had so disgusted him that he left town and assumed his new identity. When he learned he had fathered a son with Louise, he flew into a rage and killed her. Steve was arrested and sent to an all male prison, despite the fact that he considered himself a woman. He was forced to shave his head and remove his breast implants, and denied access to hormone treatments. He felt no remorse for his actions and was instead unhappy with his appearance. Steve is currently still in prison and has no plans to ever communicate with his now 21 year-old son.
Answer :
These are all very negative stories.

I know a similar story of a man who was supposed to help the sick, but instead killed 200+ elderly people (50 was found to have evidence) and he ruined the image of the profession completely. It s kind of unfair, because it was obvious that he had a chemical imbalance in his brain (he was insane) yet everyone suffered because of him. Not only that, but future people going into the profession he corrupted have nothing but severe public scrutiny.

I think the people you mentioned were also insane. Either that, or they have not been nurtured properly at all.

I always love women, even when they are in the wrong, because I think it s a universal law that women are 99 times out of 100 incredibly good-willed. This also means that a lot of them just walk into obscene situations which I think is very depressing.

Well, here in England, you and I know how well the police patrol the country. It s small, and there are police everywhere. Plus any one of us in our country can get from loser to perfectionist. Take that HIV woman, she could become a doctor because it is a legal requirement for EVERYONE to be given the right. In fact there are doctors with HIV, there are blind and deaf doctors too. If she has HIV, she does not need to tell the patient even if they asked her. I am assuming that it s very severe, to the extent that she s coughing constantly, because you are describing her life to be very boring now.

I don t like this question because it is an over-negative perception of reality.
