i have schzoaffective disorder but i seem to show a lot of symptoms for BPD which have all been present from about the age of 6, also i am only 13 now and i heard you have to be 18 to have it.

i also have aspergers syndrome, bulimia and trichotillamania.

Psychiatrists and psychologists rarely diagnose schizoaffective, asperger s or borderline personality disorder in children under 18, they are very serious, complex disorders and require a history of other documented behavioral disorders.

Kids under 18 act irrationally and their emotions still run to extremes, in puberty, hormones play a large part in behavioral and emotional disturbance.

I hope that true bulimia has not set in yet, you can reverse this behavior with help from a counselor. Bulimia at this young age is usually related to severe and chronic abuse in the home. The longer it goes on the more difficult it is to treat as it allows an almost complete escape from reality and true emotion including love.

If things are okay at home, in your family, at school, and if you have a friend or two and have not been in trouble with the law - chances are you re quite normal for being 13. "Normal" is a very, very broad term.

Only a GOOD psychiatrist can diagnose you (and I put good in caps b/c there are plenty of bad ones out there). Don t try too hard to diagnose yourself.

But the latest issue of TIME magazine (with Obama on the cover) has a large article about BPD. You might want to take it with you once you ve got an appointment with a good practitioner.
