Commonly question about Depression Facts for Busy People

Question :

VERY Informative site on depression. All the facts and common questions.?

http://suicidal.com/depressionfaq/

I suffer from severe clinical depression. In the past I have nearly committed suicide on several occasions. I gouge deep holes in my legs and arms; am trying to quit; self harm is very addictive.
I am from a huge, close-knit family. My father s side now avoids me like the plague. My mother needed to get out and talk with a peer and called my aunt (her best friend/my father s sister/my godmother) and asked if she d get together for coffee. For months my aunt turned her down, saying she was "too busy". Finally she admitted to my mom: "You know, I just can t deal with all THAT." My relatives aren t doing this to be cruel. They are frightened and confused. They don t understand.
I m going to show this website to them all. Please do the same and share it with others. People NEED to know. When someone is suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts, the LAST thing we need is to be shunned by friends and family when what we really need is support.
Answer :

Question :

How can I fight depression without taking any drugs?

I m 19 and I m depressed maybe this is due to the fact that I hardly talk at home and in school. It s because firstly, I m a loner and a paranoid.

I read a book that says something that goes "People who hardly talk might suffer from depression" an I felt that I fall into that category.

And often stay at home and stare the four corners of my bedroom due to the fact that I don t what to talk about with my parents. I m the only child by the way and I dont have any boyfriends. My friends were all busy with their everyday life and i don t wish to trouble them.

Another thing that bothers me is my personality. I m not myself anymore and I don t know who I am anymore. I have dream in mind and I want to live that dreams I had. But my inner voice is killing me.

I seriously need help.
Answer :
You need to talk to somebody before you self destruct!
You know you need help and that being so quiet and reserved is getting you dow so you must get out there and start enjoying yourself more.
Call your friends and have a laugh with them. Talk to your parents so they can help you with your emotional state.
If you keep your feelings bottled inside, you are harming no one but yourself.
Please take the steps towards improving your life. You are 19 and have the rest of your life ahead of you.
The worst thing you can do is look back at your life in 20years time and feel that you havent realy lived!
Good Luck!
Question :

Help! How do I stop the awfully annoying voices in my head almost eveyr waking hour? I have severe depression.

I used to be happy living in the city but it all started 10 years ago after I moved back to my miserable hometown. Everday in my head, the negative thoughts will creep into my head replaying & repeating the same things over & over again in my head like a recorded message. My mind is always busy when I m cooking, driving, eating, reading a book even at night in bed thinking about how awful this town is and hating the fact that I can t change my circumstances & the awful surroundings & ignorant people around me. I m a modern city-loving girl stuck in a slow, backwards & uncultured town. I have nothing in common with the people here & I feel very lonely with no one to connect with or develop a meaningful friendships or relationships. We have absolutely nothing in common. The thing is I can t leave this place bcoz I m the sole carer of my ailing mother & she won t move away with me either. So how do I stop the endless chatter in my head b4 I go insane & start having peace of mind? Why me?
Answer :
Youre in a situation that is stifling and not of youre choosing and existing in an environment that aggravates you constantly and makes you feel disconnected from the real world.....
My advice would be to listen to the voices of discontent in your head and start planning your move out of there.
Your ailing mother must realize that you are desperately unhappy and if she values your well-being she will consider your mental health as extremely important and discuss with you an alternative long-term plan which may or may not include her moving with you.
Your mother could be ailing for years; you cannot stay in this limbo for years. She has to either move with you to a place where you both can find peace or you need to make alternative arrangements for yourself.
How can you care for her properly anyway when you are dying inside yourself? It s time to take care of you. Go talk to a psychiatrist.
