Statistics tell us that married people live longer than singles. A new medical study suggests that marriage also wards off the debilitating memory loss in aging.
Are singles destined for dimentia and early death? Or can singles prolong our life and mental clarity through the "Marriage Effect" without getting married? These questions were explored in a medical study and the findings were reported in the British Medical Journal.
What were the guidelines and goals of the medical study?
Medical researchers studied the health changes of a group of 1400 people from Finland, starting at age 50 and following up with them 20 years later. Their goal was to find out who was at greatest risk for Alzheimer's disease.
Their findings?
People who were widowed or divorced at midlife and remained so were at greatest risk for developing Alzheimer's disease. Being single at midlife also was a risk factor. The "Marriage Effect" lowers these risks of Alzheimer's.
What is the "Marriage Effect"?
Dr. Ranit Mishori analyzed these findings for Parade Magazine and said that the "Marriage Effect" appears not to be influenced by how much education the individuals had attained, how much physical exercise they got, or whether they otherwise had active social lives - all factors that other studies have found to be important in determining the risk of dementia.
According to Dr. Mishori, the study's authors suggest that having a partner might provide additional mental and social challenges that somehow stimulate the brain and delay the onset of dimentia.

Relationships Analysis! Need help please?
Hey everyone ... I am doing that relationships assignment and i am stuck with this part if you please can help me that would be great!
By taking a closer look at relationships you can often assess how healthy they are. In this activity you will examine an imaginary relationship using guiding questions. You may also want to use the same process to examine a relationship that you have.
Instructions Pick two characters from your favourite book or TV program, then reread sections of the book or watch some episodes, paying close attention to the characters relationship. Describe the relationship between the two characters by using the following questions as guides. Identify the source (what book, movie or TV show?), and the names of the characters. In a sentence or two provide some background for the relationship by telling a little about the book or TV show. Then use these questions to analyze the relationship.
1.What characteristics make this a healthy and/or unhealthy relationship?
2.Using Sternbergs Triangle Theory of Love, what type of love is demonstrated by this relationship.
3.If there are unhealthy characteristics to the relationship, what could the characters do to make their relationship healthier?
Answer : read something like harry potter and use ron and hermione in book 4, where there s starting to be tension between them due to attraction but neither of them show it
Question :
How to be good friends with a girl and have a healthy friendship?
I am from an abusive household, hence My lack of knowledge of healthy relationships. I got out of the situation , few years back . My father was emotionally/ verybally/ violent towards me all my life and my mom followed suit. My brother , I believe, is psychotic on many levals due to his control issues.
I have had girlfriends before. I had a girlfriend in high school. Then I had another one in college, and I had one recently with whom I broke up because I finally came to realize I was attracted to the bad ones because that s what I am used to . I was used to the emotionally abusive ones because that s what I was accustomed to. Anyway, I got out of it last month and learned and grew a lot .
I made a good friend recently few weeks ago and she s like a spiritual guide to me . Helps me out a lot and I am forever greatful for her presense in my life. But I also want to make more healthy friends and I am still not confident I can do it. I wanna make positive relationships with good hearted people and I can see negativity coming from a 100 mile distance.
I don t want a relationship, I just want friendship because I never had a girl who was my friend when I was in my "good" state of mind . They were all my friends during my dark periods and I am unsure if I can do it or not.
Answer : For a healthy relationship, always eat lots of fresh fruit, get some walking in and use a condom.

The progress of dementia in a sufferer is usually seen as having three stages.
First stage of dementia
In the first stage, the person has a marked deterioration of memory, impaired concentration and an increasing tendency to fatigue and anxiety. Nothing more than an obvious failure of memory may be observed for a year or two because of the relatively slow progress of the disease.
However, unusual incidents increasingly occur, giving cause for concern. For example, a cautious business man tells a convincing but false story about a fraudulent transaction involving an associate, or a timid spinster quarrels with her neighbors. Speech disorders in the early stages are usually limited to occasional difficulty in word-finding. Handwriting may be noticeably altered.
Second stage of dementia
In the second stage there is a further deterioration, which is particularly evident around practical everyday skills. At this stage the home begins to take on an air of squalor as the person is no longer able to use the washing machine and the vacuum cleaner. Similar deficits occurring in the workplace tend to lead to early retirement.
Neurological abnormalities begin to appear. For example 5% of people develop epilepsy and other neurological conditions can appear, such as dyspraxia (difficulty in performing tasks that require fine motor skills) and agnosia (loss of the ability to recognize or identify persons or objects). Dressing can become increasingly difficult, with garments put on back to front, a right arm inserted into a left sleeve, or an attempt to put the hand through the cuff rather than the sleeve at the shoulder.
Disorientation in space and time become apparent and the person begins to lose their way in familiar surroundings. They become unable to tell the time or name the day or date. Speech difficulties increase and the person appears to grope for words, to mispronounce words, to reiterate endlessly single syllables or parts of word.
Writing is similarly affected and words tend to be misspelled and parts of words are substituted for others. The impairment of speech is associated with a simultaneous failure to understand the speech of others. Memory loss continues, and begins to include both recent and remote events in the person's life.

Question :
Dementia Stages???????????
My grannie was diagnosed with dementia last year. Although it was very mild, with her only mislaying things and forgetting small details, it was a devastating blow to the family.
Recently, she has started getting worse, fast. Now she can barely hold a conversation, and seems to forget the details of the conversation after a few minutes, constantly repeating the same comments over and over again.
Her actions are also affected, she cant remember going somewhere earlier in the day, or moving something a few minutes earlier.
I was wondering, if you can help, how long you think it will take before she gets much worse, deteriorates to a more serious extent. I know everyone is different, so just an estimate please.
Thanks
Answer : you cant estimate that.. but, in all honesty, it s pretty bad already. Next step is paranoia. She will forget who you are and think everyone is invaders. Eventually it leads to just complete retardation of all brain functioning, and brain death. Could be as soon as 6 months, or she can stay this way for a few years. See? Too hard to tell.
Question :
Should a feeding tube be used for someone in advanced stages of dementia?
I have a loved one in advanced stages of dementia who is unable to feed herself or swallow well. My family has been talking about the possibility of a feeding tube. On one hand, we don t want her to suffer the pain of starvation. On the other, it would be hard to watch her just laying there in bed with no quality of life, utter boredom, and continued pain that she may or may not be able to express. Is there any additional information out there that would help us come to a decision?
Answer : well without a feeding tube you will starve and your body begins to break down with sores and very painful,I would go with a tube if she has no other problems right now,if she had breathing problems and server pain or blockages where the doctor would have to give her Morphine than I would say no tube, because the Morphine would send her in to cardiac arrest and she would pass a lot quicker.
Question :
I m going to spend some time with my elderly Father who is in the beginning stages of dementia.?
I m going to spend some time with my elderly Father who is in the beginning stages of dementia. I need to give my Step Mother some time off and get him out of the house. Any ideas what I can do with him, he is hard of hearing and has a difficult time following a story, so a movie is out.
Answer : If you live somewhere where the weather is nice I would try a park of some sort. Sitting and just having a coffee might be easier for him. If he is mobile, I also find the mall and a zoo worked for my grandmother. Theres lots of people to look at. And animals at the zoo make everyone feel like a kid. It might bring him back some really nice memories.

If your online business uses landing pages, you naturally want these to be compatible with the latest search engine algorithms in 2012 and beyond. If you're familiar with the basics of search engine optimization, you will find that many of the fundamental principles are still in place. Landing pages must also be well targeted to their intended audience, so you have to do plenty of market research. If you use landing pages, then the good news is very much of it is what has been recommended all along. There are exceptions in a few areas though, so avoid being lazy and assuming you don't need to update your knowledge. Even one mistake nowadays can mean a significant drop in your rankings. 070465
How simple or complex your landing page has to be depends a great deal on what you're selling -the higher end the product, the more you have to impress your prospects up front. There are always exceptions, but that is a pretty accurate sum of the situation. Since we are talking about landing pages, there are some caveats that need to be mentioned. You don't want to make your landing page any more complicated than it needs to be. Still, some higher end products and services require you to provide some crucial details if you want people to sign up or spend their money. The many variables involved in creating an ideal landing page are why the top marketers always split test their pages.

Vitamin For Anxiety - Natural Remedies for Anxiety
by Topeka Shawnee County Public Library
What is the most deadly psychological disorder today? If you guessed an eating disorder, then you are right. According to WebMD, eating disorders are illnesses that cause a person to adopt harmful eating habits. So, does this make WebMD just a great resource, or is this really true, and is an eating disorder really a dangerous illness? Most sufferers of an eating disorder are often mocked about their problem, and they are not taken seriously. People should not misinterpret or disbelieve sufferers of an eating disorder because it is, in fact, a very serious illness. There are, however, minor cases of eating disorders but there are far too many deaths related to them, thus we must take this issue very seriously and approach it with care.
Why are eating disorders the greatest killers among the many different psychological disorders? This is because of the media, as well as the disorder's dramatic and deadly affects on the body. Today, media is in our lives no matter where we go. From television, radio, and the news, to magazines, newspapers, and the internet, media plays a big role in the spreading ideas, norms, and styles to people. Media spreads information really quickly to millions of people. Media is around people no matter where they turn, and they face it on a daily basis in some form. So, how is media related to eating disorders? This question, and many other questions, will be answered after we get a better understanding of what an eating disorder is, its characteristics, statistics, and ways to prevent and treat it. I will, however, focus only on anorexia and bulimia because they are more affected by the media than overeating disorders are.
People with eating disorders obsess about their intake of food, and they spend a lot of time thinking about their weight and body image. Their body is badly affected both emotionally and physically. People with an eating disorder may suffer from a number of different symptoms, and not everyone gets the same symptoms as they vary from individual to individual. According to the Help Guide-Mental Health Issues, even though anorexia is the most revealed eating disorder in the media, bulimia is the most prevalent eating disorder.
A person suffering from anorexia sees themselves as fat when they are, in fact, skinny and underweight. Their weight does not match their height, activity level or age. They get bad memory, feel depressed, have a fear of gaining weight, feel light headed, and often faint. Women with anorexia may have problems with their menstrual cycle such as missed or late periods, as well as trouble getting pregnant. Woman who are pregnant have a higher risk of a miscarriage and a higher risk to need to deliver their baby through C-section. People suffering from anorexia can also have muscle and joint problems, kidney stones, kidney failure, anemia, bloating, constipation, low levels of potassium, magnesium, and sodium in their bodies, low blood pressure, slow heart rate, and heart failure. Some physical signs that can be seen on a person suffering from anorexia are dry or yellow skin, brittle nails, more hair growth on their body, and thin and brittle hair. A person with anorexia may also get cold easily, bruise easily, and feel down a lot.
A person suffering from bulimia can get the same effects as a person suffering from anorexia since both disorders involve the loss of major and rapid weight, which leads to very unhealthy changes in the body. Symptoms between anorexia and bulimia sufferers differ in the way that sufferers of bulimia would eat a lot of food in a short amount of time and then force themselves to throw up, when people with anorexia just don't want to eat altogether. People with bulimia also misuse laxatives and go on strict diets of fasting and rigorous exercising. Sufferers from eating disorders in general are affected emotionally, psychologically, behaviorally, and socially. Emotional and psychological changes include increased anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, guilt, and low self esteem. Some changes in behavior of a person suffering from an eating disorder include dieting, frequent visits to the bathroom after eating, a change in fashion, and constantly checking their weight. Some social changes of a person suffering from an eating disorder may include isolation, being anti-social, avoiding social gatherings where food is involved, and a loss of interest for hobbies. Other physical signs of eating disorders in general include edema, a reduction in metabolism, sore throats, stomach problems, heartburn, and hypoglycemia; which leads to irrational thinking, shaking, confusion, irritability, and comas.

Question :
I need to lose weight and still eat how do i do that?
I have gained over 150lbs on my medications since 1996 and my body is not happy. I want to lose weight and i have been excersizing everyday. Walking a lot mostly and running around after my 2yr old. And in the summer i would swim and walk @ least an hour a day. What ever makes my heart beat fast. Because that is what my dr said to do. I have been starving myself. All the media states that the only reason people are overweight is because of them over eating. I have never over eaten in my life. My weightgain is from side effects of medications. That i have to be on for the rest of my life due to an illness. And before i got sick, i was so skinny. I want to be that way again! Anyway i was wanting to try eating 5 small meals a day and see if i can lose the weight. What are good things to eat and how do i space them throughout the day? (like what time to eat and what foods are good at that time). Thank you for reading. God bless!
Answer : I feel your pain! I had meds do this to me. I am at 180, and have lost 60 pounds in 3 months like this. And by the way, thank you for deciding the EAT while dieting! (:
Great foods to eat are fruits and veggies, serving sizes of cheeses ( I prefer low fat cottage cheese ), grilled fish and pork ( baked can gather the grease in the meat ) canned tuna, and baked chips.
I d stay away from diet foods, they do more harm with their sugar than good. (: Also, try to stay away from red meats too.
Start breakfast at about 7:30, and pace your meals up until 8 pm. It s best not to eat after that, a it slows your metabolism.
Try to do a work out before your first meal ( just a quick walk with your little one would do ) and a heavier one after. though I m sure being a mommy is plenty a work out. This gets the metabolism rolling better anyhow.
I wish you luck on your journey!
Question :
Need advice about low testosterone levels?
alright long story with a short question.. im just trying to stop all of the follow up questions in advance.
back in 2005 i was working in louisiana after huricane katrina. i work for the govnmnt but do not have insurance, its kinda like a contract job. but whenever i am at large operations like that i always have the benefit of having a doctor on site for free treatment. ..soo...
by the way I am 34 now, and was 29 almost 30 then.
after i was there for a few months i was really tired and run down. and extremely grumpy. almost hostile at imes. very unlike me. i thought it was a stress issue due to the long hours and a few other things. i didnt really notice i had no sex drive because i was away from home and my significant other. but either way i hadnt woke up with a Mr. happy in weeks, maybe months. my sex drive at home was pretty much nonexistant also before i left. i was looking for excuses to get out of my manly duties. mostly the problem was that i was feeling very short tempered with people i had to work with at this point. so i went to the doctor and told her the symptoms, she asked me some questions. "sex drive stuff i hadnt thought of" and said i was expereincing low testosterone. i was also getting pretty out of shape. my arms were getting skinny. my gut was getting flabby. but i noticed it mostly in my usually very well developed legs. they were starting to look like female legs. no hair. hardly any muscle tone. and i was getting fat deposits on them. i thought it was because of long hours, and no exersize. but the effects were too dramatic. anyway.. its pretty clear my testosterone levels were low. she told me she could do a blood test to determine whether i should use injections or gel or patch. and i asked her some questions. mostly about side effects.. we have all heard the horrible things about steroids in the media.. shrinking balls, baldness, cancer! she said i would probably need testosterone therapy of some sort for the rest of my life. i was mortified.. i had been the picture of health my whole life.. very active, ate right. low blood pressure. reasonable body fat to muscle ratio. didnt smoke, drank in moderation. this type of thing only happened to people who didnt take care of themselves right? i told her i needed to think about some things and look into some different options.
so i went back to my office and started looking at different treatments online. different symptoms. natural treatments. i ran accross hundreds of "natural" remedies. herbs.. root extracts.. vitamin combinations. im sure if you are reading this you have ran accross several yourself. so a few things led me to my decision to try some natural remedies. firstly the doctor told me it was possible that my test levels were low because of the long stressfull hours and lack of sex.. so maybe just a few little things here and there could help out right.. well first i tried some stuff i ordered off the internet. it was a liquid drop you held under your tongue. tesocurlone i think it was called. i also increased my b complex vitamins. well that did it.. after about 3 or 4 days i woke up with a raging rock hard erection. i thought - hell i should be a doctor.. i felt better. my muscles felt stronger. the affects however were shortlived. after about 3 months of this, i started to see a decline in my sex drive and energy. also since i work out semi regularly i could tell my performance was fading. weaker, and less stamina .. so on to another remedy... then another... then another... the results over the past few years have almost always been the same. i have tried different combinations of herbs... nettle root, vitamins and over the counter remedies from health food stores. they seem to help for a while until my body kind of "runs out" its almost like its sputtering. up and down. so now im about to change jobs and have insurance in april. to celebrate i went to 2 different doctors here in town to try to maybe get my testosterone levels regular and steady. i have decided that everyone grows old but at 34 i want to be able to enjoy the time i have and its very hard to do physical activities like riding mountain bikes and playing basketball when you feel like you are 64 instead of 34. i dont care about performance enhancing, only enjoying life. so the first doctor i went to i told him all these things. he asked me about my job and personal relationships. asked me how much i worked out. which is always 2 hours of full court basketball on sunday and light weight training once or twice during the week during winter. but summertime im always outside, riding, hiking, building things, whatever i can do to enjoy the outdoors. he took my vitals and tested my blood, but for cholesteral and lipids and stuff rather than test. he said i thought i was depressed. he rattled off a couple antidepressants he thought i could have some success with. he said steroids were basically the devil. they would kill me if i too
Answer : Low Test, First of all let me tell you I have been taking testosterone injections and using Andro Gel for over 12 years and the Endocrinologist who prescribed Test for me told me I would have to use it the rest of my life and I fully intend on doing just that. Contrary to what you hear or read on the internet or from people who know nothing about testosterone replacement therapy, TRT - there are "absolutely no adverse side effects" from taking TRT. None! The testosterone in the injections is exactly the same as what your body makes naturally and all you are doing is replacing what your body is not producing. However having said that, there is one side affect if you plan on having children because it will lower your sperm count and you ll become virtually infertile. So if you want children have them first before taking Test. This infertility can be reversed if you stop taking Test but it will take awhile for your body to recuperate, at least 8 weeks or more, probably more like a couple months. The only way to find out for sure if your Test is low or why it is low is to have a blood test measuring several factors that could cause low test, e.g. your LH & FSH hormones, prolactin, the aromatase enzyme, & your testicles production. My diagnosis was "idiopathic hypogonadism" which means the reason is unknown why my testicles were not functioning normally. Ironically my doctor is in WV but might not be close to you since he is in Petersburg and also in Mt Storm. He s at the VA clinic in Petersburg and his private practice in Mt Storm, Dr. Alan Kunkel but my advice would be go see an Endocrinologist or a Urologist, not some general practitioner. There are also Hormone Replacement Therapy Clinics in some of your larger cities that specialize in this. If you need any more information you can contact me @ fototag@rocketmail.com I m very familiar with TRT and also the use of steroids having used both in the past 20 yrs. P.S. If you go to the following site they have a section on HRT where you can read about personal experiences from guys who are using Test & HGH.Hormone Replacement Therapy, Longevity, Wellness, Anti-Aging, Alternative Medicine < http://forums.steroid.com/ >
Question :
Aunts going crazy after LapBand and is trying to make me, a 17 y/o get it!?
hi I live with my aunt who just recently got the lapband surgery about five months ago. she s lost about 60 lbs already and hardly eats anything. she has became a nut ever since! I m usually a calm person and don t let people get to me but she s driving me nuts! she looks ill from the weight loss almost like she is suffering from anorexia! she s sleeps alot, is Aleah grumpy, picks fights with me an calls me names, she s even gotten violent with me! another thing that s been p***ing me off is that she constantly reminds everyone of her weight loss "can ya tell?", "omg I haven t ate anything", "do I look skinnier?, "I m in a size medium now it hardly fits" IS ALL I HEAR! it s seriously turning her into an idiot. she sits at the table and puts on this dramatic show when she eats a couple bites and then starts to burp loudly and run for the toilet (I know this happens to lapband people alot but she makes it worse then it really is!) I know this because another woman in my family got it and isnt half as bad as my aunt! one minutes she s complaining about not eating and feeling too skinny and the next she s bragging and showing off her collarbone! she also gets very offended when people put her in her place and remind her that she got a surgery so she dint loose weight on her own. people say this alot to her because shes always bragging and putting her two sense in about their weight! she s even recommended that I get it!!! I m only 17 and she s trying to convince me get it when I turn 18 in a couple months?! what mother figure tells their daughter to turn to surgery as soon as they turn 18?! I m no Kim Kardashian, I have curves but I am no where obese! she even went as far as to looking up conditions I have that could let me get approved for the surgery regardless of my weight (cause I m not that overweight, a condition like depression could get me approved after I gain a little more) Is there anyway I can get her to get off my back about this surgery?! I m still young and want to loose weight the old fashioned way NO SHORT CUTS! And do you think she s having a bad side effect of the Lapband making her crazy all of the sudden?
Answer : Hi Rachel, I think I ve read this kind of story over and over again.
And for 32,563 times: obesity has it s own standard. I don t know what s your BMI and your aunt might have some mental problem after the surgery. I think both of you need to see a doctor to consul if you really need a surgery like she always told or to fix her problem.

by Vietnam Plants America plants
The sad reality of dementia is that the dementia patient gradually starts to forget. At first it seems like stress or fatigue may be the cause, but as the forgetfulness increases and other symptoms become evident the dementia caregiver may become nervous about some of the important information that could be lost in their loved one's memory.
While caring for a dementia patient it is easy to get caught up in the day to day tasks that can claim so much time. While preparing meals, making a safe environment, and tending to health care needs are important and very necessary there are other aspects of the dementia patient's care that must be taken care of also.
Schedule & Plans
We all lead busy lives. We have hobbies and interests and clubs and work obligations and friends and family and... A dementia patient's schedule doesn't suddenly empty because they become forgetful. If anything, it may become even fuller because they may double (or even triple) book themselves without realizing it.
Knowing your loved one's schedule and plans will help you to help them to organize their time and commitments.
Knowing where they will be at any given time has the added benefit of helping to keep them safe. If they don't show up for an appointment or if they are late returning home you will have valuable information to aid in a search for them.
Filing System
As their memory declines the dementia patient will require more and more help with financial, legal, personal, and professional paperwork. Knowing where to find pertinent information will be extremely helpful for the dementia caregiver.
Even if a dementia patient has kept meticulous records throughout their adult life the nature of dementia may cause them to become slack in putting papers where they belong or may even cause them to rearrange files.
Understanding how to use their filing system and helping them to keep it updated can save the dementia caregiver much time and stress.
Financial Information
While it may feel like you are prying into their affairs by asking about their income and their budget, financial mismanagement is one of the earliest signs of dementia problems. At some point the dementia patient will become unable to handle their own finances.
In the meantime they will still have bills to pay and possibly even debt that needs to be taken care of. The problem with becoming forgetful is that the dementia patient is likely to forget to pay bills on time or even at all while adding to their expenses buying things they don't need or giving away money they don't have to give.
As early as possible the dementia caregiver needs to learn about the financial affairs of their loved one and help the dementia patient to take the necessary legal steps to have someone take control of this area of their lives when it becomes necessary.
Insurance Information
As a person ages their insurance needs change. It may difficult at this point in a dementia patient's life to increase or add insurance where needed, but it is also possible that they may be over-insured in some areas. At one point my mother had six accidental death and dismemberment policies that she was paying premiums on each month.
Beyond the financial aspects of insurance bills there are the available benefits of the coverage they carry. Knowing what is covered and what is not covered, how to make a claim, which doctors they can see or can't see under their plan, whether or not other people are allowed to drive their vehicles, etc. is all valuable information that can either cost the dementia patient money or save them money.
Work with them to locate and understand all of their insurance policies.
Medical History
A written record of the dementia patient's medical history is critical. Knowing when they have had surgery or been treated for a particular disease can be invaluable in helping a doctor in making decisions about their current and future care.
Help them to compile a list of surgeries and medical treatments including all prescription medications they have taken or are currently taking. Looking through their files may provide some of this information if they are unable to remember it.

Question :
Do I have dementia and/or Alzheimer s?
Alright first off, I would like to tell you that this is a serious topic regarding my health. I expect you all to respond in a professional manner, and joke around. If so, please leave this question.
Well, I m a 14 (soon to be 15) year old and a 10th grader. My whole life, I have been known as a forgetful person. I would put things in one place and forget where I placed a few minutes later. I would forget tasks at hand after I was stopped (for any reason) to work on other tasks. For example, my father drives me to a tutor, and I forget his notebook. I come back home, and before I grab the notebook, I go to the bathroom. After I m finished, I leave the house, forgetting to bring the notebook with me. It also takes me a little bit of time to remember the names of people I meet. I read that one of the earliest stages of Alzheimer s is when the patient first begins to notice that they forget places and people, and I am noticing. It is important to note that these events I explained do not happen ALL the time, but they happen enough to be noticeable. There is also an instance that cannot be explained. I ve remembered having these "problems" from when I was ten. On random occasions, I would have something I call "black outs". My mind would go blank for like a second, and then turn on again. My thoughts would escape from me, as I would forget what I was doing at the moment, where I was, and other information (the names of peoples, how to spell, forgetting certain words, names of peoples, etc). I would have a difficult time grasping on to thoughts. I would have a slight headache accompanied by nausea. But right as I would "black out", my vision becomes obscured. It turns completely black and it would slowly come back to me in a few seconds (I suspect that my eyes somehow roll back in my head and then slowly turn to normal). Don t get me wrong, it doesn t have a long term affect on me. After like an hour or two after the incident, I would continue functioning normally as if nothing ever happened. But, it really is a bother. I mean, this has happened in school and many other uncomfortable times where I need to think clearly. My parents and I went to a neurologist a few year ago.I got a CATS scan and said that my brain was just fine. The neurologist stated that I have migranes, as my mom also has them. But, she has never experienced anything like I do. To be honest, I don t really think that is a good enough answer. But, that might be a separate illness, or something similar. I am quite afraid of my future now, as I believe the symptoms will amplify in the future. Also (and I m not sure how helpful this is), my father has Parkinson s, and he is the first one in our family to get it. He contracted the disease before I was born, so there is a slight chance I might get it due to genetics. So, do you believe I have dementia? Or am I just being a worry wart and am just a forgetful person? I would rather have a medical professional answer this question (neurologist in particular), but if you believe you can answer this, then I m all ears. Sorry for making you read this much, and thank you in advance. GOOD LUCK ;D
Answer : I m not a professional. Just know from my own experience that this sounds like no big deal. I am very forgetful too, but I also have issues focusing. I constantly jump tasks, and recently, I ve forgotten less. I m 14 too, so I know what school is like. As for the "black outs", I can t really help you there. Any time something like that happens, I wouldn t mess around with it. But I m on the paranoid side. Hope it helps.
Question :
What should I say to someone whos trying to rip me off? (Elderly Care)?
I started working for this guy occasionally since January, starting pay was $12/hour. He would call me 1 or 2 a week, sometimes more, sometimes less.. I would take care of his father who was 75 years old with Dementia. Anyone who knows someone with Dementia knows how difficult it is and how draining it can be.
Well he had me come over the other day to talk, he asked if I would be willing to work fulltime Monday-Friday 7:30am-5pm and I was ofcourse interested, this guy likes a total of ten minutes walking distance from my house, so the commute would be nothing..
WELL, the whole time I figured I was going to get paid $11/hour like usual... and after agreeing to the job, while we re wrapping things up, he mentions its $300 a week and no I didn t say anything, right then an there, but as soon as I left I was already thinking about what to sAy to him, i plan on calling him today and telling him I can t work that many hour for $300/week.
If you break down 47.5 hours for $300, that comes to less then $6.50 an hour. I would have to go to bed at 9-10pm, wake up at 6AM, be there by 7:30am, take the elderly man on walks, give him bathes, do his laundry, go to doctor appointments, cook then clean whatever dishes/mess was made, waste my whole week working with a dementia patient who isn t the easiest person to work for all so his son can pay me $300? NO.
I am definitly not taking the job unless he raises it to ATLEAST $450. I no he s definitly getting sometype of assistance/money for taking his father in his home so I think he s trying to pay cheap to he can pocket cash himself in the process and he s trying to find a sucker to do it and he says you can t call out or be late ever because he can t be late for work, lol.. He really thinks he s going to get a reliable person for that kinda money?
If anyone knows roughly how much someone gets paid for taking in a dementia patient to live with them. I m trying to figure out how much money this guy is getting so he can pay someone just so I can figure out how much he s trying to pocket for himself..I know it its different depending on your income, this guy isn t poor, he lives in a two-story-house, with security cameras, guns, alarms, big screens, motorcycle, decent car, etc.. He s just cheap..
I basically want to no what I should say? I already know certain things im definitly going to say but I d like some other options as well..
Answer : Your reasoning is sound, logical and mature.
This guy IS trying to rob you.
I d insist on the original $12 per hour for every hour worked, with documentation for all work hours.
What a crook. I m glad you re holding your ground. Grrrr!..

Suicidal ideation and one of the following conditions:
1) TMAU - Trimethylaminuria (TMAU), also known as fish odor syndrome or fish malodor syndrome1, is a rare and devastating metabolic disorder that causes a defect in the normal production of the enzyme Flavin containing monooxygenase 3 (FMO3).23 When FMO3 is not working correctly or if not enough enzyme is produced, the body loses the ability to properly break down trimethylamine (TMA) from precursor compounds in food digestion into trimethylamine oxide (TMAO) through a process called N-oxygenation. Trimethylamine then builds up and is released in the person s sweat, urine, and breath, giving off a strong fishy odor or strong body odor. The odor is not necessarily fishy, and the type of odor can vary from time to time. In that sense, the nicknames referring solely to a fishy odor are misnomers.
2) Early Onset Alzheimer s Disease - early onset Alzheimer s can develop in people who are in their 30 s or 40 s, but that is extremely rare. The majority of sufferers are in their 50 s, or early 60 s. Sometimes the term "early-onset dementia" is used, although Alzheimer s is a disease that is just one type of dementia. Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia and is invariably fatal, generally within ten years of the first signs. Normal aging involves forgetfulness, but the early signs of AD include unusual memory loss, particularly in remembering recent events and the names of people and things. As the disease progresses, the patient exhibits more serious problems, becoming subject to mood swings and unable to perform complex activities such as driving. In the latter stages they forget how to do simple things such as eating and brushing their hair. They eventually require care 24/7.
3) Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig s Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed, and eventually suffocate to death.
Thank you for your help!!
Answer : if your talking of suicidal ideation it would have to be no.1 the other would lead to death any way and lack of discernment of judgement. the first one you would be more able to be bothered by what other people noticed about you and be very aware of it which could lead to the ideation of suicide depending on who you were.

Arlington, VA (PRWEB) May 04, 2012
A new four-minute video featuring dramatic footage from an interview with a mentally ill man who killed two U.S. Capitol police officers while trying to protect the nation from cannibals has been released by the Treatment Advocacy Center to mark the annual observance of Mental Health Awareness Month.
Unawareness of ones own mental illness clinically known as anosognosia is the leading reason that people with brain diseases such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder dont take the medications that could stabilize them, said Doris A. Fuller, executive director of the Treatment Advocacy Center.
Until policy makers and the public recognize that affected individuals are medically unable to seek care voluntarily, these people will continue to suffer, and society will continue to pay for the homelessness, arrests, incarcerations, hospitalizations, victimization and violent acts that result from non-treatment

Question :
How to overcome social anxiety?
I just recently found out that I have social anxiety.I was watching a documentary on youtube and as I observed all the symptoms I realized that I have all the symptoms of social anxiety. It started when I was thirteen years old.i recall in elementary school being very out going.Once I got to middle school I never wanted to go to school because I didn t want to socialize with my peers. When I would get on the bus I would sit in the back and not socialize with any of the kids and hope that nobody would come sit beside me and talk to me.In the class room, I sat in the back and would hope that the teacher would never call on me.If she did call on me to answer a problem I would go into panic. If I even tried to speak my words would get caught in my throat, I would start shaking, and I would feel like I have to vomit. So, I would never talk to anybody.Except people that I knew from elementary school.I was scared to death of meeting new people, but once I met a person and got to know him/her better I became relaxed with the person, but still afraid of them judging me.I also couldn t eat or drink in front of people.I m so terrified that somebody is watching me.I do go to social events such as school, party s, outside, but go into panic mode whenever somebody I don t know talks to me.I also feel like I m gonna cry if I fell like I m saying something wrong while talking to the person.I do socialize with the person very well, yet on the side I m a absolute mess.I want to over come social anxiety and not be afraid to meet new people.I m tired of being the quiet girl and afraid to talk.Any help will be very much appreciated.Thank you.
Answer : I suffer from anxiety and I would clench up and feel like I couldn t breathe in stressful situations. The best start is to see your doctor who will send you to a psychologist who can help find the cause and change your thought patterns. If that doesn t work there are medications you can take that can make your life so much easier.
Don t be afraid of seeing a psychologist or taking medicine, you don t have to suffer alone. Good luck.

Question :
How can I get over ADHD, social anxiety and avoidant personality disorder?
I m 20 years old, and those are all self-diagnoses.
I m really afraid to go to a doctor, as I m still living with my parents and don t want them to know. They are not like 90% of decent people and will use this knowledge to control me. My step-mom got drunk one night and watched a documentary about Asperger Syndrome, then she diagnosed me with it because the guy in sits around in his room a lot like me and doesn t talk to his family. Since then, she s treated me like a retard, and I lost the ability to even stick up for myself.
I got to a community college, and the counseling center there doesn t treat mental health issues.
What can I do to get over these problems?
Answer : You need to go to a doctor. Before you know it, you ll be 30 years old like me and have completely wasted your life battling your mental problems alone to no avail. See a doctor and do whatever it takes to get on a medication before it s too late. Trust me, I wish I would have done that 10 years ago. My problems have escalated to the point where medication is unable to affect my behaviour. You don t want this to happen to you.
Question :
My boyfriend makes fun of my very unusual phobia?
For the past... four or so years, I d say, I ve been terrified of fish, which is called ichthyophobia. When I was little, I was fascinated by the ocean and even wanted to be a marine biologist throughout elementary and middle school. Somewhere along the line, however, my fascination turned into anxiety, and now I m outright scared of them. Watching a documentary about the ocean is the equivalent of a horror film to me... that s how it makes me feel.
My boyfriend, whom I m in love with, though, seems to think that it s funny. And it is sort of funny, I ll admit that. I can laugh at myself, it s just that he doesn t seem to take it seriously. He doesn t seem to realize how it makes me feel. He s always kidding about how he s going to pick me up and drag me into the ocean one day when we re at the beach, or get a live fish and leave it flopping around on a plate one night when he makes me dinner, as a joke. He laughs when he says it, but I ve tried to explain that the way I feel about it is intense. He says that I can t honestly be that afraid of them, and points out how irrational the fear is. It doesn t matter to me how irrational it is... it s still there. Even if the danger is in my head, the feelings of panic are -not- funny, and I don t feel like I should be subjected to jokes like that any time soon. He has yet to actually do anything, but it makes me nervous that he talks about it.
Should I really be worried about him talking like this? Also, is there a way for me to get help for such an unusual phobia? I mean, I know social phobia and things like that exist, and people get help for those... but a fish phobia? And do I really even need to get help? I mean, I ve been mostly fine up until now, since I m not afraid of sea food, just living fish, so it s not a fear I ve had to worry about often. It doesn t disrupt my life... It s just that I have incessant nightmares, and they keep getting worse. It s disturbing to me.
Answer : Your phobia is very real and your boyfriend should be a little more sensitive. There are stranger phobias such as a fear of clowns etc... My phobia is of mice or rats. I get anxiety just by typing the words..... I feel your pain. I am told there are therapies that can you over the phobias.

Mental Health Disorders Factline
by wayne's eye view
There are many different types of mental health disorders, any of which could affect any one of us at any time of our lives regardless of our age, gender, background or status. The most common type of mental health disorders are anxiety and depression related disorders.
Certainly, all of us can experience anxiety at times, especially when we have a particularly difficult situation to deal with, like taking a driving test for example, or going for a job interview, but when the anxiety is so severe that it disrupts our daily lives, then it could be that we are suffering from an anxiety- related mental health disorder.
Similarly, each of us know what it's like to feel a bit down in the dumps, we may even say we are depressed, but true depression is where the symptoms don't subside after a short period of time, they persist and are severe enough to impair our ability to carry out our normal routines.
The following list represents some of the more commonly known mental health disorders with a brief description of their typical symptoms.
Phobias
A phobia is an anxiety related disorder characterised by extreme fear, perhaps fear of a situation, an object, a place or a creature and this fear is completely out of proportion to the norm. There are literally hundreds of known phobias but common ones include fear of public places, confined spaces, flying, spiders, and fear of heights. A sufferer will try to avoid their fear at all costs, and when faced with it, will experience severe anxiety which can include palpitations, nausea and panic attacks.
Panic attacks
A panic attack can be a terrifying experience. Someone experiencing a panic attack is engulfed by overwhelming fear and panic often without warning. Various physical symptoms can accompany a panic attack, which include difficulty breathing, trembling, palpitations, dizziness, sweating, and nausea and a feeling of impending death.
Post traumatic stress
Post traumatic stress can follow an intensely disturbing experience such as a car crash, violence or rape, being in extreme danger or basically any event that causes severe psychological distress. The symptoms include constantly reliving the event in the mind through flashbacks and nightmares, disturbed sleep, anxiety and depression.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety related disorder manifesting itself in irrational and obsessive thoughts that spark illogical rituals and behaviours or compulsions, for example, constantly thinking (obsessing) that your hands are not clean causing you to repeatedly wash your hands (a compulsion). Other examples include excessive cleaning, checking and rechecking that doors are locked and windows closed etc. Someone with OCD can feel intensely anxious if they don't carry out their rituals so performing them is a way to relieve their feelings of anxiety and distress.

Question :
Does a mental health disorder always accompany murder or rape?
So, I ve been seeing what I view as a lot of justification for murder or rape because the said abuser must have a mental health disorder , is it possible that one could be a murder or rapist because they re violent and disgusting, without having mental health issues?
Answer : No, you could just be evil and possessed by the devil to
murder and rape.
Question :
What type of mental health disorder is this?
Small things that happen to me at school ruin my day but it s as though my brain needs something to get me down in the dumps each day, so if I ve had an alright day then my brain will find some small thing that happened to me and blow it out of proportion and it will depress me. Please answer on what type of mental health disorder this might be-thanks
Answer : Sounds like standard depression. Talk to your doctor.
Question :
Do you believe being gay is a mental health disorder?
I believe it should be a mental health disorder it ain t normal and we take advantage of it what do you think. I believe that people like you are prejudiced between gay individuals Sheldon and Neil Patrick Harris are gay but they are nice people too!!!!!

Commonly question about Borderline Personality Disorder
Question :
Do you have to be suicidal to have borderline personality disorder?
I match with almost all of the symptoms of borderline personality disorder (abandonment issues, impulsiveness, extreme moods, bad temper, black/white relationships, etc.) except that I don t cut myself. I sometimes will have suicidal thoughts but never get close to actually doing it. Does everyone have to hurt themselves in order to have BPD? I have been speaking with a therapist for about a month or so and she has said she thinks I have obsessive compulsive disorder, and lots of anxiety, etc. and hasn t mentioned BPD, but through my research online it seems like I have tendencies towards those, but actual Borderline Disorder. Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.
Answer : I have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and I also do not cut myself. I sometimes feel suicidal if I am under a lot of stress, but never to the point of actually making plans on how I am going to carry it out.
I have also had some confusion/ disagreement with regards to my diagnosis. I have been told by my current therapist that I am BPD, but when I went for a second opinion was told that it was more anxiety and OCD and not BPD.
I have almost given up trying to sort out what the diagnosis is and am trying to concentrate more on the symptoms. i.e. medication and cognitive-behaviour therapy for the OCD and anxiety and psychodynamic psychotherapy for the relationship issues/ BPD type symptoms.
It might be worthwhile to look at what is concerning you the most in terms of your symptoms and work on them without being too concerned with an overall diagnosis. The diagnosis is just a way for psychiatrists to categorise people into different groups as a way to sort out what the most appropriate treatment is. You might also find that there is a significant cross-over in treatment approaches for a few different diagnoses anyway.
Question :
My friend cuts herself, Can someone you tell me more about this borderline personality disorder?
I have bipolar disorder. A friend of mine has borderline personality disorder and she cuts herself. Can someone you tell me more about this borderline disorder? Do you know anyone who does this?
Answer : I know someone who does it & I do it but I ve found that when you wear a rubberband on your wrists and snap it whenever you feel like cutting it REALLY helps. I do it alot & it reduces the cutting but does not stop it. The only reason people do it is because they have alot going on in their life and they feel like it s the only pain they can control. Question :
Why are Borderline Personality Disorder people so good at making people become infatuated with them?
People with Borderline Personality Disorder seem to have a talent for making people very quickly become infatuated/obsessed with the Borderline (I won t use the word love).
How is it that they have this "talent"?
Answer : There are different types of behavior with BPD. There are those who predominently act out (raging) and those who act in (cutting) and there is a continuum with sufferers somewhere on a spectrum - low functioning (prone to drug use and poor societal function, crime, and hospitalization) and high functioning (can hold down a job and "appear" normal to people not close - like family - to the BPD.) Higher functioning BPDs almost universally deny that they have a problem. My opinion of higher functioning BPDs who predominently act out is that they lack a conscience and are self absorbed.
If a BPD is higher functioning and intelligent, they often have the ability to "read people" pretty well. They can also be extremely adept at manipulation. It s very easy to not understand the manipulation, especially when everyone else around (i.e. not family) seems to think well of the BPD. The manipulation and the lack of insight from others can make the non-BPD doubt their own instincts.
At the core of all BPD behavior is fear of abandonment and great difficulty dealing with their feelings.
CONTROL is at the core of effective, manipulative BPDs. It s a sick game, but it gets played by many women. BPD is the most prevalent personality disorder and yet most people have never hear of it. Statistics show that just about everyone interacts with a BPD at work or school and is completely oblivious.
